Top Moments from an Incredible 10 Days
As the sun sets on another unforgettable session at Gwynn Valley, we’re filled with gratitude and many incredible memories. Today marks Closing Day — a moment that’s always bittersweet. While we wave goodbye (for now) to our campers, we also take a moment to celebrate the joyous moments that defined our time together. From the first camper arrival on opening day, to Closing Campfire the evening before parents arrived, our days were packed with new friendships and opportunities. Among the many highlights of B session, multiple unforgettable days stood out, each one capturing the heart of Gwynn Valley in a different way.
Sunday morning, campers awoke to a mystery! The Program Leaders (PLs) had gone missing, abducted by alien invaders! Their mission: train like space cadets and complete a series of space-themed challenges to rescue the PLs in time for Vespers, our Sunday evening service with the theme Appreciation for the Natural World. We had many campers share their musical gifts with the camp. Main campers tackled tasks like translating extraterrestrial languages, navigating an astronaut training course and practicing moon landings on the watermat. Thanks to their teamwork and determination, the PLs safely returned to camp just in time — mission accomplished!
On Tuesday, International Day brought us the rich flavors, music and traditions of Poland, Germany and France. Campers explored global cultures through hands-on activities, performances and delicious meals — all led by our incredible international staff! We enjoyed French chocolate croissants for breakfast, German sunflower-bread sandwiches for lunch and Polish perogies for dinner.
Later in the week, the excitement continued at the farm. Farmers Dale, JP, Jade, and Nora had been patiently waiting for 400 pounds of corn to ripen — and on Thursday, the moment finally arrived! Campers jumped in to help pick and shuck the corn before handing it off to the kitchen staff to prepare for dinner. In addition to the harvest, the camp celebrated the birth of three adorable baby goats this week — Diego, Clover, and Cinnamon!
As we reflect on the last 10 days, it’s clear that B session was filled with the kind of magic that is only possible at camp. We’re so grateful for every camper, staff and parent who made this session so special, and we are thrilled to meet our new camp community arriving on Sunday for C Session!
