Gearing Up for Summer 2024

Spring has brought new beginnings, fresh greenery and staff to Gwynn Valley this month! The mill wheel turns, the baby goats bleat and the vegetables grow on the Farm inch by inch, row by row. The valley is filled with kitchen staff, adventure staff, lifeguard staff, international staff, medical staff and farm staff all eager to complete training and prepare the site for campers. In the last few weeks, our staff have completed Lifeguard Training, Wilderness First Aid, Swift Water Training and CPR & First Aid thanks to the guidance of leaders and field experts Christian, Ruby and our amazing year round staff Ezekiel and Chris. The blacksmithing Forge is also up and running! Scotty has been hammering away with staff training them to make hooks, rings, wands and more. While others have been tidying cabins, organizing program areas and prepping for even more staff arrivals.

We hosted our Open House on Saturday, May 25th for 160 campers and parents, returning and new, to experience camp before drop off day this summer. Families were guided on tours of camp by our eager staff followed by homemade cookies from the kitchen, Games on the Green and Friendship Bracelets by the Mill Pond. We are so excited to have campers back here soon!

Our summer staff is almost complete as the rest trickle in for full staff training. It’s such a vibrant time of year in nature and on site at camp, excitement in the air glows bright like the Blue Ghost Firefly that grace this land each year for 3 weeks in May. Our dedicated staff look forward to guiding, nurturing and creating simple joys for your campers this summer. See y’all soon!
