1941
“Mary Gwynn’s Camp” moved to the current site after Miss Mary purchased the property located off of Island Ford Road. The Lodge is built by local carpenter Fred Landreth, using trees from the property.
1942
The current camp property is purchased. This site was formerly Connestee Cove Camp for Girls
1947
The movie ‘Tap Roots’ is filmed at camp.
The original swimming pool is built.
1949
The camp name changes to Gay Valley Camp.
