2027 Registration Opens Wednesday for Returning Campers

Camp has only just started to wind down and it’s already that time again: time to start thinking about next summer!  

As a long-time camp veteran (and former camper), I find myself well versed in homesickness.  What’s been trickier to find a balance with as a Director is campsickness.  That particular quiet that settles in once camp is over.  When the red-shouldered hawk reclaims the driveway, the kingfisher returns to his perch on the Waterfront, and herds and herds of deer drift across the Green like they own the place.  Because, for a little while at least, they do. 

I’ve mentioned it in this space before: camp folk LIVE for the summer!

Which is why registration week gets me so excited every time.  Watching the campers’ names start to come in builds on a growing anticipation for the summer season to come.   Recognizing them, remembering who they were at camp this summer, and imagining who they’ll be come June, July, or August.  It’s always a good reminder that the pang I feel this time of year isn’t unique to me.  Campers who left only a few weeks ago are already looking forward to coming back too!

Next week we get to channel that anticipation!  Registration for returning campers and their siblings will open on Wednesday, August 26th at 10am EST.  You can find our 2027 Dates and Rates on our website and applications will go live through the same login portal you used to access camp photos this summer.

If your camper is applying for one of our Older Programs (Mountainside, Riverside, or Young Leaders) remember to mark August 26th through September 2nd on your calendar.  Only applications we receive within that window will be considered all together for our first round of placements.  Unlike our Main Camp program, these programs are not first-come, first-served.  If you’re weighing which program might be the best fit for your campers, feel free to give us a call at 828-885-2900.  

Returning campers will have priority through September 10th, with registration opening to new campers on September 11th.

It’s always such a treat, on Opening Days, to watch our Director Team spot a returning camper and marvel at how much they’ve grown.  Campers shooting up like saplings between one summer and the next!  Around now, many of our campers are heading back to school, some already a few weeks in.  We hope that whatever independence and confidence they found at camp travels with them into the classroom.  And bears them well as they embark on a new year of learning and discovery!  

We can’t wait to hear about all they put into practice as well as show us all the ways they’ve grown in just a few months time.
